Tony Hasbun serves for thirty years as a Rent Program Specialist at the New York State office of Housing and Community Renewal educating tenants and property owners understand the complex New York State Rent Stabilization Laws.
Mr. Hasbun has a solid background on public advocacy and assisting low-income renters and homeowners. As the President of his tenant association enrolled in the New York City Housing Preservation and Development Tenant Interim Lease Apartment Purchase Program, Mr. Hasbun took an active role and successfully helped his neighbors purchase their apartments from the City. Today, his neighbors are homeowners through a Housing Development Fund Corporation (HDFC) that offers low-income families the unique opportunity to purchase their apartments for 250 dollars in June 1988. His remarkable achievement stands as a true example of what a group of neighbors can do to rehabilitate their community.
